101 in 1001 - Goal #34 complete

Goal #34: Buy non-disposable shopping bag(s).

I bought 2 canvas bags the first part of January, now if I could only train myself to USE them consistently! But, to be fair, I have used them twice and they work great. They hold a lot of stuff and I feel so much better not bringing home those awful plastic bags. The only complaint I have is trying to use them in the grocery self-check out lines -- the weight of the bag throws off the scale, but you can't scan your stuff and not put it on the scale either. The only solution I found is to scan the stuff, set it on the scale but not bag it, and wait until either 1) I'm completely finished before bagging, or 2) the machine tells me to remove my stuff from the scale and continue. A bit of a hassle, but worth it in the end.

I forget the bags too. If I don't have them in the car with me, I forget about them.

Congrats on #34!

LOL, yep, that's me. My family has been warned not to remove the bags from the car under penalty of starvation (i.e. I won't buy the groceries if I don't have the bags). Now I just need to make sure to put one in each car!

I bought four since they were $1.99 each. I keep two in the car. Now I just have to remember to carry them in the store! I hear Whole Foods is doing away with plastic bags completely.
